The excitement has begun to build in the Lehigh Valley region for the 7^th Annual FREDDY© Awards, scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2009! We will have a record number of schools participating this year. Over 2500 students from 29 area high schools will be part of this year's program.

Since it's inception in 2003, the FREDDY© Awards program has had a tremendous impact on our community in so many ways. The program not only gives significant exposure to the many talents and hard work of hundreds of Lehigh Valley area students, but it also helps them to develop important life skills. The positive feedback we get from the program is overwhelming, and was encapsulated so well in a letter we received after last year's program:

"At the Community Foundation, we have the privilege of doing grant making that touches peoples' lives in countless ways. That is grant making - at its best - it is more than the transferring of money; it is the transforming of lives. It seems to me that the Freddy Awards do no less, but in indirect and, perhaps, unappreciated ways. While the excitement builds as we prepare for another great year of the FREDDY© Awards, we also must face the enormous, and rising, costs of producing the program. Several returning and new sponsors have partnered with us, but we must also reach out to our members and other supporters as well to make ends meet for this program.
